Getting Found on Google and on AI Search
Search changed. People still Google things, but they also ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, and Copilot directly. Being found now means both.
Getting found today means two things at once: classic SEO for Google, and Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) so AI answer engines can find, understand, and cite your business. I handle both: technical fixes, structured content, and honest timelines. Nobody can promise a #1 ranking, and I won't pretend otherwise.
SEO isn't dead, but it changed
Google still sends the most traffic to most small businesses. But AI Overviews and zero-click answers mean a growing share of searches never result in a click at all. At the same time, people increasingly ask ChatGPT, Perplexity, or Gemini directly instead of typing into a search box. A findability strategy in 2026 has to plan for both.
What GEO actually means in practice
Generative Engine Optimization means writing and structuring content so an AI system can cite it as a source. That means answer-first paragraphs, clear attribution of facts, genuine FAQ sections, and structured data (schema) that tells machines exactly what a page is about.
The technical baseline most sites are missing
Before any of that matters, the basics have to work: fast page loads, a real sitemap, clean crawlable code, and no accidental blocks that keep search engines or AI crawlers out. It's common to find a business site quietly telling Google or AI bots not to index it, without anyone knowing.
How I approach it
- A technical audit first, to find what's silently broken
- Pillar-and-cluster content structure instead of one page trying to rank for everything
- Answer-first writing that works for both a human reader and an AI system
- Structured data (schema) so pages are machine-readable, not just human-readable
Realistic timelines
SEO and GEO both take months to show results, not days. Anyone promising instant top rankings is either wrong or not being honest with you. What I can promise is real technical work, real content, and clear reporting on what's actually happening.
I don't guarantee specific rankings, nobody honestly can, since Google and AI systems don't publish their exact ranking logic and it changes constantly. This also isn't a replacement for paid ads if you need traffic starting tomorrow; SEO and GEO are a compounding investment, not a quick fix.
